Traditionally, there are a number of color combinations that are considered especially pleasing. These are called color harmonies or color chords and they consist of two or more colors with a fixed relation in the color wheel.
Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Colors
the primary colors are red, yellow and blue.
The three secondary colors (green, orange and purple) are created by mixing two primary colors.
The other six tertiary colors are created by mixing primary and secondary colors.
The color wheel is divided into warm and cool colors.
Warm colors are vivid and energetic, and are likely to advance in space. Cool colors give an impression of calm, and create a soothing impression. White, black and gray are considered to be neutral.

COLOR SCHEMES
Complementary color scheme
Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel are complementary colors eg red and green. It is characterized by high contrast. This contrast creates a bold and vibrant effect. This scheme needs good management as it has tendencies of looking Loud. If well managed, it stands out well.
Analogous color scheme
This schemes use colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They usually match well and create cool, comfortable and sweet looking designs. You can add some contrast on the hues when using this scheme. Let one color dominate, the second can support and the third can be used either in shade, tint or neutral as a dash of touch. For a better pleasing view.
The Triadic color scheme
A Triadic color scheme combines colors that are evenly spaced around the color wheel. This scheme is usually vibrant, irrespective of the hue or shade it represents. To make good statement with this, consider balancing the colors Well. Dominate with one color and touch with other 2.
Split-Complementary color scheme
Split-complementary slightly different from complementary color scheme, uses A Base color and the two colors adjacent to its complement. This color scheme has a strong visual contrast just as the complementary color scheme, but has less tension and is often a good choice for beginners, because it could be easier to mix as it gives more options.
The Rectangle (tetradic) color scheme
The rectangle or tetradic color scheme uses four colors arranged into two complementary pairs. This color scheme looks rich and gives more possibilities for mixing and combining. This scheme works best if you present one color to be dominant. There is a great need to pay attention to the balance between warm and cool colors in your design when using this scheme.
The Square color scheme
This color scheme is close to the rectangle, but with all four colors spaced evenly around the color wheel. Like some other schemes, it works well if you let one color be dominant or if you fuse it creatively. When working this out, pay good and creative attention to the balance between warm and cool colors in your design.
